Make-up Magnet Board

I saw this idea in blog land and thought....THAT IS SO SMART!
I found it over at Laura Thoughts

She starts with a basket of make-up.
(Most of us have our make-up in a basket, drawer, or bag too)

She found an old picture at the Salvation Army.

She made a few changes to the  picture & frame wouldn't you say?
After painting the frame, she picked up some metal from the hardware store and fit it inside the frame. To make it pretty, she used spray adhesive to attach some fabric to the metal.

Added some magnets to the back of her makeup.

She also added containers to store her brushes.

Now, don't you wish you had thought of this too!  It is very clever and cute.
For all the details, go check out her blog.
I'm sure Laura will love that you stopped by.

Goodbye Whiteoak Place

Today we closed on our house.
I am happy and sad.
Happy about the changes and yet sad to say goodbye.
The new house we are moving to is only a few blocks aways but still.  A part of me will miss this house.
I am just thankful that more of me is Happy to be moving.

Getting Ready for April Fools Day

somewhat simple button

She has other ideas as well.
Check it out and make your April fools day a little more fun.

If you would like some more ideas, there is a website called April Fool Zone.  It has fun and harmless pranks as well.

What I wore Wednesday....

I never realized how hard it is to actually take a picture of myself I like.  The is the one pic that turned out the best.  :)  I have a more comfy approach to what I wear than a stylish one.
Shirt - Walmart
Vest - Target
Jeans - Aeropostal
Shoes - Target
Smile - Me

Ballard Designs

I tend to gravitate to things in the Ballard Designs magazine
If you don't already get it, then you should.

I tend to favor browns, blacks, and nutreals.  I find these colors from cover to cover in Ballard Designs.

Here are a few pictures that caught my eye.

Are you a list maker?
I am not.
Really.
I don't care for list (or alarm clocks for that matter).
My sister is a BIG, HUGE list maker.
So, with her in mind, I found this moving to-do list.
I really need to get things in order if I will be moving next week.
I am really busy at my day job, so in order to keep my sanity,
I am going to actually make a to-do list for moving.

We interupt this blog ...

For about  a month now dh and I  have been working out the details for selling our house and buying another one.  I am excited about it all!  I'm dreading the packing but excited about my new house.  We hope to close around the first week of April.  So I will be busy packing and pitching things.  I will update from time to time during the process.  I am looking forward to re-doing the rooms in my new house and sharing it with you.

Recycled Kitchen Cupboards to Paint Canvas's

Guess what this was in a past life? When we remodeled the kitchen, I sold most of my old cabinets through the newspaper but was left with some drawer sections that I had no idea what to do with. Turns out they make fantastic paint surfaces! This is the art piece I have hanging above my bed.

I think it's kind of awesome because when me and Chris were dating we actually designed our bedroom furniture. We drew it out, made the measurements, decided on the style, etc. and then when we bought our house my dad made and gave the finished pieces to us. I love having something that's our personal taste AND handmade by my dad. I have an old oil painting that my grandmother hanging on the adjacent wall and although I don't know if I'll ever be at her skill level, I love having my own across the wall.

To make it less cupboard-like, I textured the flat surface with joint compound and used paints I already had from around the house mixing and creating colors with the same color palette, yet not exactly matching the walls. In all this project cost me $0.00 Does that feel good or what?

There are so many bloggers out there that have a "What I Wore Wednesday".
I would so love to show you what I wore but my self esteem prohibits it.:)
Instead, I thought I would have my own

I found all this at Rue 21.
I do really love this store because I can find great deals.
Happy Wednesday to All!

Stainless steel equipments give a great contrast to the recycled timber table. Paint a board with the chalkboard paint- write the menu of the day!
