Drop Cloth Tree Skirt

I have seen so many beautiful variations of DIY tree skirts on Pinterest.  I had about twenty minutes to burn during nap time the other day, and I decided to tackle my own version.

I had purchased a drop cloth several months ago at Lowe's hoping to come up with a project later one. I simply cut it in the shape of a square. I know most are round, but I am awful at cutting circles.  I then used some fabric in a similar color to crate a ruffled edge using a glue gun.  Then I simply added some self adhesive stars around the top of the ruffle.  All together this project cost around ten dollars.  Pretty inexpensive and easy to make.  I just used some velcro to attach it together in the back of the tree.

Now the bottom of my tree does not look so bare.  I also wanted to something that did not get covered in the hair from my yellow lab that seems to go everywhere even when vacuuming all the time.  This is the perfect match for his color so I will not even notice. See ~

Holiday Banner by Amy

I made a holiday banner last year to use in our Christmas card and completely forgot about it until I pulled out all of our holiday stuff. I knew I could find use for it this year. I used burlap fabric, traced out the pattern I printed off the computer then cut our letters from construction paper and glued then onto the burlap banner.

This was our Christmas card last year.

Holiday Hostess Gift Idea

I picked up this adorable pedestal at the tag sale over the weekend done by Elizabeth and Co. I actually picked up two of them, and this was the smaller one. I figured it would be a nice way of giving a hostess gift during the holidays.

I picked up some garland on sale at Michaels and cut it apart.  It ended up being more cost effective than purchasing the individual pieces they had nearby.

I placed a candle holder from World Market's clearance section from the last holiday season in the middle.  I made my own candle inside using wax and scent from Michaels as well.

I then added a metal like sticker to the outside for just a bit more sparkle to the candle holder. 

Not a bad little gift for around twelve dollars or so. Thanks so much for stopping by!

St. Patrick's Day - Ombre Style

I love seeing ombre styled parties, so when time came to plan our St. Patrick's Day celebration, I new it was a perfect chance to use different shades of green to celebrate our Irish heritage! I contacted my very talented friend, Bird from Bird's Party  to design the St' Patrick's Day printable.

For the backdrop, I used different shades of shamrock cut outs that I purchased at the Dollar Store. I used my wine cabinet to display all the goodies. All the sweets were in different shades of green, we had marshmallow pops, shamrock pops, homemade meringues, cupcakes and green apple licorice twist. We also had St. Patty's sliders,  green shots{vegetables} and shamrock shake. 

Each girl received a princess green tiara and the boys green hats and bow ties.  The children painted shamrocks using their thumbs and painted their own lucky gold rock. It was a very fun green afternoon!

Holly Jolly Holiday Party

I threw a small Holiday get together for my children and 8 of their friends. My inspiration was a polka dot wrapping paper that I purchased at Hobby Lobby, which I also used as a backdrop and "tablecloth" for the tables. 

This party was a lot of fun to design using the cutest printables ever from Twinkle Twinkle Little Party. All the decorations{including the Pallet Christmas Tree}, food and sweets were made by me.

We had a Healthy Snack table, Hot Cocoa Bar and a Holiday Sweet Table. For the Healthy Snack table, the children enjoyed Christmas Ornaments{cherry tomatoes}, Reindeer Food{baby carrots} and Holiday Sandwiches. After they ate healthy, we played Digging in the Snow{they dug into a basket of fake snow to find prizes}and "What am I?" Holiday edition.

After the games the children had some yummy treats like Gumball Tree, Wreath Cookies, Chocolate bites, Marshmallow Trees, Caramel popcorn, mini cheese cakes and Christmas Tree Cupcakes. We also played Secret Santa while enjoying some hot cocoa and Hot cocoa marshmallow mugs. It was a for sure a really Holly Jolly Party!

Hot Cocoa Mug

Another adorable Holiday treat!  These little mugs of hot cocoa are super easy to make! This one was actually my daughter's idea!  She spotted this idea in her American Girl Magazine! We did a twist and dipped the whole marshmallow into chocolate! YUM!! 

Ingredients

regular size marshmallows, mini marshmallows, mini candy cane, sprinkles and chocolate

Simply melt the chocolate as directed and dip the marshmallow into the melted chocolate. I made them in two ways. I added the candy canes and the mini marshmallow when the chocolate was still melted and  I also did it when the chocolate was hard. Even though it was harder when the chocolate was still melted, the results were a lot better! 

We also made some the same way as the American Girl Magazine. A lot easier but just as cute!
