Ice Cream Party Dessert Table

Wynn's party was such a fun one. We had our lovely friends and family over to celebrate on Saturday afternoon. The theme of course was ice cream.  Here is the dessert table I set up for the party. 

Here are my grocery store cupcakes with fondant toppers from Edible Designs By Letty's Etsy store.

Here is my number three that I made with cardboard and paper shred. Then I had my Rice Krispie Treat cones, marshmallow ice cream cones, and my chocolate lollipops in front of the number 3.

I bought some popcorn buckets from the Dollar Tree and lined the top with ribbon and labeled them with chocolate and vanilla to put the ice cream containers in. Then I had my ice cream cone jar and my toppings containers from the tag sale at Elizabeth & Co.  I had some yellow and white stripe fabric on the table and had pink and white stripe fabric hanging in the background.

I bought these cookies from an Etsy shop. They were delicious.

These beautiful number three lollipops were a special treat from Vintage Confections. 

We were so happy that everyone enjoyed themselves and that the birthday girl didn't want the party to end.

Children's Gift Idea - Pay It Forward

About a week ago I had seen someone post on Facebook about paying it forward.  All I had to do was respond to her post and re-post the status. Then my friend would do something nice for me at some point this year unexpectedly.  Here is the first gift I have made for one of my friends who responded....well one of my friend's child.  I had found this cute bag at the Dollar Tree a while bag. I figured it would be a great gift bag that could be reused.  

This little one will be missing Wynn's ice cream party, so I thought I would send some ice cream related goodies inside the bag.  I added some ribbon and a fabric flower to the bag.  Then I placed a ice cream necklace kit and ice cream paper inside the bag.  

I hope that this little goodie bag will bring a smile to their face! Have a great day.

Ice Cream Party - Favors

Are you sick of my ice cream party posts in the midst of Winter yet?  We are only having a handful of kiddos at Wynn's party, and I was trying to come up with an ice cream related favor.  I decided that these favors needed to do double duty as decorations and favors. This way I would be able to stick to a reasonable budget.

I ended up taking three paper mache cones that were just over a dollar a piece. I was so excited when I found these at Michaels.  They are significantly less expensive than their Styrofoam counterparts and they can be filled up.  That's when I thought I'd make some ice cream cones and then fill up the inside of the cone with a treat for the kids.

I had recently found some sidewalk chalk at Target on clearance. I had figured I would somehow incorporate it into the favors for the party. I figured it would come in handy come spring time.  One pack of 16 pieces of chalk was $1.98 not bad. I split it into three separate bags and tied a ribbon around them. Then I placed them inside of the cone. On top of the cone I added a tissue paper pom to make an ice cream cone.  I had gotten a large package of these poms at Jo-Ann's at the end of the summer for $5.00.  I only needed to use three out of the package so it was a good deal.

The total cost for these favors was approximately $7.00, which means it will come out to cost a little over $2 a child.  I think because they serve two purposes that it is even a better deal.

Ice Cream Party - An Easy Decoration

I've been slowly but surely working on decorations for my daughter's ice cream party in a few months. I've always been someone who starts things early, so no need to be surprised here.  This project is simple and cute, and the best part is that I only used items that I already had lying around my craft stash.

I started out with some jute twine, a styrofoam tree, and a loofah from the Dollar Tree.

 I wrapped the tree with the twine to make it look like an ice cream cone.

 Then I hot glued the loofah on the bottom of the tree and set it down on the top of it.

 Well I thought it needed a little something like a cherry on top. I didn't have any small poms laying around, so I did the next best thing. I picked up the hair tie from my daughter laying on the table and tied it up.  Then placed it on top of the loofah.

The total cost for this project was $1 because my mom gave me the tree during her craft stash clean out and the twine was leftover from another project.

I think I'll make a couple more of these for the party.
