My Take on UpCycled T-Shirt Dress

Over at I Am Momma Hear Me Roar she made this cute cute t-shirt dress.  I loved the idea and thought my very basic sewing skills could handle making one like it for my little girl. Here is my inspiration photo from her blog.  Go over to Cheri's blog and see all the other cool stuff she does.

Here is my version!!! (Isn't it cute?)
I used two old pink and green t-shirts I had in my closet.  I didn't have a small t-shirt of my daughters to use for the top so instead I made it into a jumper/dress.

Here is a close up of the top.
]I added a flower to it for some fun.

This t-shirt jumper was very easy to make.
I made it in one evening.

Which Project will I do first?

Life has been busy...that happens with everyone I know.
I have not cratfted in a couple of weeks.
Tonight I plan on starting something, anything.

Here are a few thing that I want to get done.

All the blogs out there inspire me.
I hope I am able to inspire some of you.

I picked up two lamps for free a while back.
They need some love and care.
Hopefully after I'm done, they will be as pretty as this one.

Isn't this idea just perfect for Halloween!
I would love, love to make this for my little girl.

Yesterday at the consignment shop I found a funky 70's tie that I thought was perfect for something like this.  I also found a t-shirt to match.  My son loves ties.  How cute will he be in his own applicated tie t-shirt?

My Candy Corn Door Hanger

I had posted the other day how I love the candy corn door hanger that blogger Sew Totally Smitten had made.  I went home and made one for my front door too.

Here is my version of it.

I realized after I started this project that I didn't have any black ribbon.  In order to add a touch of black, I made two ruffles out of an old back t-shirt I had.  Adds a bit of whimsy don't ya think?

Beautiful.

Painted Back to School Jeans

Back to School Jeans are fun.  These are some overalls I painted for my little one.  They have crayons on the front and the back.  A little chalkboard on the back pocket.  Some apples and books on the front.
She is ready for school (in a few years).

I also like this look on jeans.  Something fun, colorful, and simple.

Michael Miller Fabrics

Michael Miller Fabrics are just the best.  I love the colors and the designs so much.  They even have a blog.  Check it out.

I made a cute outfit for both of my daughters with some of this fabric.
(Isn't she precious?)

Here is the outfit I made for my oldest daughter.

Just a few more pictures because it is fun.

Painted Candy Corn Jeans

Here is a cute painted outfit for the fall.  It was easy to paint and really cute.  If you can paint straight lines and triangles you can do it too!

This is a pair of jeans I made as well.  I always paint something on the back of the jeans.  It makes it that much more interesting.

Getting ready for the fall!

Where Painted Studio Started

I thought I would give you just a little bit a history as to why I call my blog "The Painted Studio". About 6 years ago I had seen custom painted kids clothes on eBay. No way was I going to pay the prices on eBay so I bought some paints and gave it a try. It was alot of fun and my kids and I enjoyed making the clothes for my kids. This is the first painted outfit I made. I was liked how it turned out so I started painting this design on lots of different jeans and overalls and sold them on eBay. At that time my eBay name was allyrnelson, it was a shared account with my sister so that is the name I put on my photos. After I started selling more and more I took the name
"The Painted Studio".

Here are a few more exaples of the work I had done.

If you like these, I will show you some other designs on another day.

Have a good one!

Ruffel T-Shirt Dress

Wearing school colors on Fridays is a big deal in our little town. My little one didn't have any school colors. But what I did have was a big yellow & black t-shirts that no one wanted. I had seen on the web where people were making ruffle and flower t-shirts so I thought...hey I can make one for my little girl. This is what I came up with.

This is what I started with. Just two plain old t-shirts.

I cut the yellow shirt to fit my daughter. I added a black ruffle to the sleeves and at the bottom of the shirt/dress. I also added a ruffle flower to it. She was happy with her dress. I'm no professional but I can make a 5 year old happy and that makes me happy.
